Rob Lacey Guitars is based in Northford, CT. To me, guitar making is all about tone and playability. I enjoy doing intricate inlay work, but most of my customers are working musicians. I feel fortunate to have sources for the highest quality tonewoods and materials. Feel free to contact me to discuss the building process and my design and build philosophy. BRACING
The bracing used on a guitar needs to be substantial enough to withstand the considerable force of the strings. The challenge is to strike a balance between structural integrity, and to maximize the potential of the soundboard tonally.
WOOD SELECTION
The selection of wood for the soundboard is critical, but then too so is the selection of wood for the bracing. My instruments use carefully selected woods and braces carved to enhance the particular qualities of the soundboard. No two pieces of wood are identical, even those cut from the same tree. Many of my instruments feature solid (laminated) linings for the top as well as the back.
